Escorts Plan to launch Biofuel Engine Tractor in India

Escorts Group is developing a biofuel-powered tractor in India.

Escorts Group Chairman Rajan Nanda said, "It will be consistent with the requirements of the Indian farm sector".

He disclosed the reason for the Escorts Group is to venture into developing biofuel tractor was to reduce the recurring cost incurred by farmers and help them in getting better output from their farms.

"We have been delivering fuel efficient engines and the intent of developing a biofuel tractor is to reduce the cost to the farmers," he said.

Stressing the need to develop more fuel efficient and cost-effective engines, he said, "I am sure other companies will also be working on similar lines. If we have to see more yields, Indian agriculture has to mechanise."

The Escorts Group currently has three tractor models in its stable-- Farmtrac (premium range available in the 35-75 horse power range); Powertrac (value for money series in 35-55 hp range) and Escort (economy range powered by two cylinder engine 27-35 hp).
